I received a digital arc of this from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Luna is abducted, not for the first time, either. She is always so careful after that last time, seven years ago. But, ironically, while attempting to take a short cut, she winds up in the evil clutches of a rogue fallen angel, Amelia, who is thirsty for power and the need to be queen of her race.
Elijah, wants no part of what he has just stumbled upon, but he cannot let this girl die at the hands of the woman he once knew so well. With Luna on the brink of death, he manages to rescue her, but bringing her back from the edge of said death will require him to do something he has vowed to never do again.
While Luna is thankful Elijah and his brother Nathanial saved her life, she has to get back to hers. She has a job and a sister. But, Elijah is no help to her. He immediately takes off and leaves his brother there to answer all of Luna’s questions. The newfound connection Luna shares with Elijah makes it painful to be apart, so Luna begrudgingly agrees to move in with him. But, when Elijah moves his latest conquest into the house they are sharing as a buffer to ensure he will not touch Luna, all goes to hell.
Luna hates this woman, but hates the deep-rooted attraction she feels for Elijah more. So, when Nathanial introduces Luna to his friend Camden, she can finally revel in giving Elijah a taste of his own medicine. Now, this whole bit was the thing I liked least of this whole book! Elijah pulls someone else close in an attempt to push Luna away for the sake of her safety, but all it does is the exact opposite.
Through these pages we learn that there may be more to the history of Luna and Elijah, more than either of them was aware of. They share a deep, almost unheard of connection they they both refuse to acknowledge. Once they do, they begin to learn all about the past they share; the betrayal and deceit of others, and things they need to stop from happening.
This was so much fun to read. I loved all the angel/demon lore created for this series. It had me questioning what was happening and what was to come until the very last page. I cannot wait for more because there are still so many unanswered questions and characters I need to see more of.
