BLURB:
Sometimes the best love stories come in two parts.
When Felix met handsome journalist Max Travers, it was lust at first sight. It was just his luck that he then had to develop a terrible case of feelings and got his heart broken. However, two years later, he’s over all of that. His job is going well, he has good friends, and he doesn’t lack for male company. Which, of course, is when Max has to come bursting back into his life.
Felix Jackson will always be the one who got away to Max. He’s spent two years regretting his actions and hoping for a second chance. When an accident lands him in Felix’s less than tender care, Max is determined to grab this opportunity. The only problem is that Felix is equally determined that he doesn’t.
From bestselling author, Lily Morton comes a story of missed opportunities, second chances, and two very stubborn men.
I think that Felix is my favorite literary creation of Lily Morton to date. He is stunning and snarky and just completely stole my heart.
“In reality, love came to me like a summer storm bursting over my head and leaving me dazed. And now I’m alone without him, and I miss him.” That quote floored me. Just completely leveled me…
This story was told in the before and the after. The before in the way of how Felix and Max meet. A funny and fast meeting in a bookstore where Felix is going on and on to a friend on the phone about how utterly terrible the person whose book he is buying for Charlie must be. Little does he know, the man standing behind him, completely in awe of him, is said person. They meet and immediately enter into a no strings hook up agreement, where whenever Max is around, they can get together. It works for a good, long while. But when Felix starts to feel more for Max is when the after starts… Because Felix becomes privy to a certain secret that Max has been holding onto. A secret that proves that there will never be a future for he and Max. It isn’t until the after that Max truly wisens up to the fact that he became a goner the moment he met Felix in that bookstore. After, he must spend a long time trying to win Felix’s heart back.
Oh, how I absolutely adored this book. The banter between Max and Felix was a thing of beauty. This book was perfection and I am so thankful that I got the opportunity to read an advanced copy.
